Plastic surgery is a fascinating field where medicine and aesthetics, psychology and biology meet and, if the combination has the correct proportions, it produces exceptional changes in the life of the patients.
Modifications can be as light as lip volume enhancement or elevation of the eyebrow to rhinoplasties and face lifts. Each change has a major impact on the patient and the way she approaches her peers. In the following we will review one by one the main procedures, their indications and the results which can be obtained.

Non surgical rejuvenation

Essentially these are all the procedures which do not require major recovery time and can push back the moment when the only viable therapy is surgery.
  1. Botox: is used as a generic for all the substances blocking neuro-muscular transmission. Brand names include Botox, Dysport, Xeomin. They each have particular characteristics and will have slightly different impact on your dynamic lines. All of them are very large protein molecules which are particularly sensitive. Best results are obtained with freshly prepared substances and this can last for 5 to 6 month. Sometimes your physician will have to repeat treatments every 3-4 month in order to maintain a continuous effect (for teeth clenching or muscular mass reduction). Sometimes the treatment does not need to be repeated for many months (as for hyperhidrosis or excess perspiration).
  2. Fillers are widely used for volume restoration purposes. Mostly hyaluronic acid based (Juvederm,  Restylane, Perfectha, Teosyal, Belotero, HyalaForm) with one notable exception the Radiesse (Hydroxyapatite based) they are very well tolerated, allow us to replenish or enhance features on the face (lips, jaw line, chin, cheeks). Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with Hyaluronidase if the effect is not pleasing, but if during the consultation there is a good understanding between the physician  and the patient, such instances are extremely rare. Intravascular injections are the most serious complication, which remains fortunately very rare.
  3. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a very innovative way of stimulating the body to repair and regenerate the treated area: the physician floods the skin with the patient’s own growth factors and this produces in an increase in the number and quality of collagen fibres. Treatment needs be repeated 3 times, one  month apart, the yearly in order to achieve maximal result and maintain it.
  4. Fat transfer and stem cell therapy, push the correction of volume to the next level, where the stem cells produce also an amazing rejuvenating effect on the skin, while the nano- or micro- fat transfer compensate for the volume with body’s own cells. This technique shows great promise and is probably the next trend in rejuvenation.  Dubai is at the far edge of the development in this field and we are able to offer the full array of stem-cell treatments. plastic surgery

The exclusive realm of the surgeon, these procedures achieve major changes and results which will be long lasting, at the expense of a more aggressive technique.

  1. Liposuction is now a universally accepted way of reshaping the body, by removing the bothering fat deposits. The “lipo” has always two steps (infiltration of Klein solution =vaso-constricting anesthesia) and the lipo-aspiration properly. Some form of additional treatment can be added ( ultrasound -like in Vaser, laser – for Acculift or ACCUSCULPT high frequency Euromi, Vaser Hi def and 4D body contouring and liposculpuring. or pure mechanical or water movement Bodyjet).  Dr Blaga will analyze, together with the patient, each particular situation and offer a personalized treatment plan.

  1. Abdominoplasty (or tummy-tuck) is designed to get rid of the flaccid skin which sometimes bothers the ladies after pregnancies. Normally the skin retracts after childbirth up to a certain point, but stretch marks and a particularly thin skin can interfere.  Additionally the muscles are spread apart by the baby and do not return to their initial position. The correction involves the suture of the abdominal muscles on the midline and the excision of the skin ellipse between the belly-button and the pubis. The waistline is redefined and the scar, though quite long, will be placed low so that it can be hidden by the smallest bikini.

  1. Breast augmentation will modify a person’s own image in such a radical way that perhaps only nose surgeries or face lifts can! Self confidence is boosted and patients have the feeling of being a new person. Volume augmentation can be obtained by fat transfer or silicone / saline implants. Incisions can be placed in the arm-pit (axillary), in the breast fold or at the areola border. A whole debate is around the best plan where to put the implants:
    1. they can be located just under the gland (in this case procedure is virtually painless and breast is bigger  but heavier),
    2. under the muscle( the procedure is much more painful, but all the extra weight is supported by the muscle and the augmented breast is big but “light”)
    3. or dual plane: upper pole of the implant under the muscle, in order to prevent the visible upper border of the implant and cut the muscle insertion on the lower part so it is less painful ( but the implants can migrate downwards).

  1. Brazilian butt-lift: very exotic term to describe waistline liposuction and fat transfer on the buttocks. Almost as amazing as the carnival in Rio, it will enhance the silhouette by carving the waist and enhancing the back curves.

  1. Face-lift is also one of the game-changers in the life of a person. When external appearance does not match the way the you feel, this surgery will wipe off 10 years and let you enjoy life the way you want. It comes with a big caveat: it is a difficult art and few achieve amazing results.  The rejuvenation is a subtle mix of volume replacement, muscular repositioning and skin texture enhancement. This last step has had dramatic improvement in the last years with stem cell therapies, which have brought efficiency and natural elasticity to the skin.
